DJ Homes was started in 2001, by David and Franca Jones, who already had over two decades of building experience under their belt. For the next decade, they delivered custom builds and house and land packages right across the Canberra and Queanbeyan region, predominately at Jerrabomberra, Eastern Valley Rise in Banks, Forde and Elmslea at Bungendore, as well as a number of renovation/extension and small development projects.

In late 2013, they were joined by son Grant, which coincided with the early stages of the new Googong Township. From there, DJ Homes has grown to become the leading custom design home builder in the Canberra region with a strong reputation for an honest approach and for delivering quality built projects. In 2018, Grant was joined by brother Ryan who is a licenced plumber and then in 2020, Alasdair Freeth joined the business before buying David and Franca’s share of the business in 2022, ending their involvement in the business and leaving a strong legacy for the current generation to take forward.

Grant and Alasdair are both carpenters by trade and each hold their own builder’s licence, meaning that DJ Homes has a wealth of practical knowledge and experience that ensures a quality product and experience for those choosing DJ Homes for their project.

We have a team of people and processes in place that ensure we provide the very best in customer service in an efficient and thorough manner, but small enough to be able to adapt to meet the individual requirements of our clients. You will always have an owner of the business overseeing your project who are contactable at any stage, with Grant and his team working with you on design, pricing, selections, approvals and contracts before the construction team led by Alasdair delivers the onsite building work.

It is our approach and the people that deliver it that set us apart and the key to that is the thorough preliminary stage that we work through with our clients, that sets our clients up for an enjoyable building experience, which it should be. We are often told by our clients that they can’t believe that they enjoyed their experience and they anticipated it being a stressful time based on what they have heard about building a home. While there will be big decisions to make, priorities to sort through and compromises to make, we ensure that as much of this work as possible is done prior to contract signing, so that you know of the total cost of your project and can organise your finance accordingly, without the fear of tens (or even hundreds) of thousands of dollars of variations, which is sadly commonplace in our industry.

Building your home is the easy part for all involved. Our commitment to our clients does not end when we hand over the keys, we have our obligations under law around warranties but will always go above and beyond and help our clients long after they have moved in.
